Feelings run high and friendships are tested as they face the Galaxy of Woah and the swirling Vortex. Can these friends work together to master the 7 Cosmic Powers and navigate the Emotosphere? Will the cast of intriguing characters they meet along the way help them find their ultimate treasure? Through the 7 Cosmic Powers, young readers are introduced to tools for mental wellbeing, to help them cope with life’s ups and downs. A variety of evidence-based psychology strategies, from mindfulness to gratitude, are woven into the story using child-friendly imagery and language. Tales of the Emotosphere is a graphic novel with a fun adventure story at its heart, to engage young readers in social and emotional learning. Co-written by Russ Daff and Dr Susannah Redhead (Clinical Psychologist) with illustrations by Russ Daff.

Hi, I'm Russ! I got hooked on cartooning at 6 and used to decorate my friends pencil cases with Garfield. I've always enjoyed putting a smile on someone's face with my stories and drawings. I've spent 20 years drawing kids' books for publishers like Harpercollins, Macmillan and OUP - before that I made playstation games. Hi I'm Dr Susannah Redhead, a writer and clinical psychologist. I grew up wanting to be a writer...or a psychologist...or a writer...or a psychologist...and now I get to do both! And working with Russ, a life-long friend, is an added bonus. I love using creativity to help people. I used to work in the National Health Service.
Tales of the Emotosphere is a superb graphic novel for kids aged 7+. The drawings are brilliant with every page a visual delight of dynamic compositions, beautiful colours and excellent draughtsmanship. Young comics fans will love these emotionally aware characters and the strange and curious world they inhabit

This is such an original and clever way to engage children in exploring their emotions. It's not heavy – a joyful ride for the reader. This makes it a useful child-friendly text for approaching tricky discussions of complicated feelings. Full of drama, visually really appealing with powerful colour choices and a variety of palette.

/ Cath Howe, bestselling author of Ella on the Outside (Nosy Crow) and Primary School Teacher

I enjoyed my journey through the Emotosphere, surfing auroras and complex emotions, and learning along with the Emotoneers. As both a writer and a therapist I really endorse this fun, story-led voyage through the ups and downs of our emotional life. Sparky dialogue and dynamic illustration bring the adventure we all face to vivid life.

/ Julian Sedgwick, award winning author of Tsunami Girl a graphic novel for Young Adults (Guppy) and Therapist

The Emotoneers are a caring and courageous bunch, whose adventures through the Emotosphere will help children and their carers understand feelings and what to do with them. This engaging book is embedded in psychological theory and practice, offering up to date ideas and strategies.

My eldest loved reading this book…he couldn’t wait to tell me about the messages this book delivers too, we sat down and discussed them. He loved the illustrations. They were full of colour and very appealing. He found the book action packed and entertaining. It was lots of fun.

Just brilliant! Albert was immediately drawn to the cover and the comic book style. Even more so, I think he really took something away from the story about being okay to talk about his emotions. A tale of friendship and understanding their feelings with lots of fun and adventure with real psychological theory embedded. Such a brilliant idea and will be recommending to friends too.

The perfect graphic novel for kids ages 7-12, where space adventure combines with emotional wellbeing. This full-colour story is so exciting and absolutely action-packed. My boys found it really engaging and entertaining. It has plenty of humour and fun, but it also focuses on emotions and is backed by science. It’s a brilliant book to help aid social and emotional learning. It became an instant favourite in our house and definitely one that we’ll re-read. We found ourselves enjoying the story but also taking away so much from it. Lots of discussion points also. Everyone needs to read this book, it really will help so many (and is so much fun!). Will be recommending to everyone, especially in the SEND community we’re part of! I think it will help a lot of children.

This was a magical, magnificent book that would take you all over the galaxy. This will help you understand your emotions and how to control them. Also the artwork is brilliantly designed and is full of vibrant, entertaining colours that will make you keep reading. This is great book and I recommend it to all children!

/ George, boy age 9

I love the lumpy bumpy comet belt chapter and my favourite character is Mira. I’ve really enjoyed reading my first ever comic style book. The pictures are really cute and funny.

/ Iris, girl age 7

The cover is very colourful and the illustrations are impressive in it. I liked how it was written and I enjoyed reading it. It will be a definite re-read for me! I really liked the grumpy rocks and I liked when there was learning, it was inspiring.

/ Chester, boy age 9

I love all the characters but a few stand out to me: Mira a super cool surfer, Carina a champion surfer and Puck who is a slobbery six legged creature who has one blue eye and one brown eye. I loved it! I would recommend this book to any comic book lover.

/ Emily, girl age 10

My favourite things in this book were the cosmic powers because they sound cool and the characters because I loved their personalities. My favourites were Mira and Puck and I especially liked Mira’s vibe. I think the story is amazing because I love adventures, magic and I just love good stories. I also really like they used emotions because it’s really unique.

/ James, boy age 9

Tales of the Emotosphere is a wonderfully moreish read. The stunning artwork transports you to a galaxy full of fun and adventure. Puck, in all of his hilarious, slobbery, flatulating goodness is by far my favourite character. The 7 cosmic powers are a genius concept for children, young people and adults still in touch with their inner child! It equips readers with vital coping strategies, emotional regulation and how to live out your values in a creative and accessible way. I will definitely be using this wonderful book in the counselling room to help clients unlock their own treasure & tap into their 7 cosmic powers!’
